- what does the Bible say about faith?
- without faith it is impossible to please God. – Hebrews 11:6
- we are saved by grace through faith. – Ephesians 2:8
- we have access by faith into grace. – Romans 5:2
- we are made righteous by faith. – Romans 3:22
- faith is our shield of defense. – Ephesians 6:16
- faith is the victory that overcomes the world. – 1 John 5:4
- your faith is much more precious than gold and silver. – 1 Peter 1:7
- Jesus said, if you can believe, all thing are possible to him who believes. – Mark 9:23
- we were always told that there are two kinds of faith, the God kind of faith and human faith
- the God kind of faith could move mountains, heal the sick, raise the dead and it could make anything possible.
- the human kind of faith was sporadic, (sporadic is the combination of spontaneous and irrational), weak and not ever powerful.
- 3. but, what did Jesus say about “your faith”, the human kind?
- Matthew 8:13 and Jesus said, unto the centurion, go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee.
- Matthew 9:29 then touched he their eyes, saying, according to your faith be it unto you.
- Luke 8:48 (NIV) — then he said to her, “daughter, your faith has healed you. go in peace.”
- remember Mark 9:23, if you can believe, all things are possible.
- all humans have the God kind of faith because God said, let us make man in our image , after our likeness. Genesis 1:26-27
- “your faith”, our faith is never neutral or dormant. – we can be double-minded as stated in James 1:8. and unstable in all our ways. we have a misunderstanding when we think we are only in a faith mode sometimes. we are always in faith! sometimes positive, sometimes negative.
- faith is: a decision by the inward man – it is based on knowledge. the inner picture beckons you to make a choice. our mind sets and traditions which are infiltrated by the law of sin and death, (the tree of the knowledge of good and evil), which is in our body. – Romans 7:23
- there is a problem with Mark 9:23, “all things are possible to him who believes”
- it can be negative as well as possible we usually view this scripture as positive and hopeful but when Jesus said, “all things, are possible”, it can work on the negative side.
- Matthew 14:22-31 – peter, walked on water then he let his inner focus change. the wind and the wave created a different inner picture then the one Jesus gave him when Jesus said, “come”.
- peter’s inner decision of what was truth changed and his faith was diverted. the power of his faith went to the new picture and peter began to sink.
- what are to do to protect “your faith” and use it for positive and stop the negative?
- guard your heart with all diligence, your faith producer! – Proverbs 4:23-27
