John 8:31-35
- what is a sacred cow?
- the cow remains a protected animal in Hinduism today and Hindus do not eat beef. most rural Indian families have at least one dairy cow, a gentle spirit who is often treated as a member of the family.
- we have some sacred cows that we let roam
- one of them goes by the greek name, hamartia
- it’s name in English is sin
- when we hear the english definition our religious, sacred cow mindset & tradition begins to moo!
- all of creation is groaning, waiting for you. why?
- because the whole earth is out of order and is waiting for you to put it back into order. – Romans 8:19-22
- jesus is waiting for us, to make his enemies his footstool. – Hebrews 10:12-18
- are the sacred cows mooing to loud for us to hear the truth?
- when we hear the word sin, do you hear moo, moo, mooooo?
- if you don’t understand what sin truly is, and where you live “In Christ”, you will never be free to live in liberty in the spirit and partake fully of your inheritance in christ, and be free to walk by faith.
- what is the traditional, sacred cow view of sin?
- wrong acts, wrong deeds, or whatever your conscience dictates to you.
- is everyone’s conscience the same of what is right and what is wrong?
- does any culture play a part of what is right and what is wrong? What about different christian denominations, do any differ on what is right and what is wrong?
- is there an absolute standard of what is right and what is wrong? Would it be the bible, God’s word? what books, what verses?
- what is the biblical definition of sin
- 1 John 3:4 – the biblical definition of sin is the transgression of the law
- Romans 14:23 – whatsoever is not of faith is sin (this is the new law we who are in christ are now under) – Hebrews 10
- law is a rule, a principle, a mark used to measure what is right from what is wrong.
- the purpose of a law is to administer justice.
- to administer justice is putting everything in order and punishing what is out of order.
- when man put his faith into the tree of the knowledge of good and evil it became the law and it was now used by man to administer justice– Geneis 2:16-17 and Romans 8:2
- _____ is broken law and the punishment is death – Romans 8:2 – the law of _____ and death
- Ezekiel 18:20 the soul that sins shall die
- where do you live? and under what law?
- who cares what law we are under?
- you will not administer justice properly god’s way, like he wants you to and you will never fulfill God’s dream for us to put things on the earth back into order
- Hebrews 10:13
- and the whole of creation is still groaning, waiting – Romans 8:19-23
Hebrews 6:19
- what is an anchor?
- an anchor symbolizes stability and a strong foundation
- an anchor is used to connect a vessel to the bed of a body of water to prevent the vessel from drifting due to the wind or current.
- who brings the storms of life?
- the prince of the power of the air. – Ephesians 2:2
- why? to steal the word out of you. – Mark 4:17 persecution and affliction arises for the word’s sake and people give up because there is not root to anchor them.
- what is the soul?
- the mind, the will, the emotions
- the storms of life will greatly affect your soul. How is yours?
- do you have a drifting soul tossed by the waves and winds of life?
- wounded emotions from past storms?
- overloaded mind that yearns for peace?
- a desire that is never satisfied with all God has?
- hope is the anchor for the soul
- Hebrews 11:1 – says faith is the evidence of things hoped for. If your hope is drifting, you have unstable faith. you will be constantly double minded and unstable in all your ways and driven by the wind. – James 1:6-8
- how to anchor the anchor of hope
- lamentations 3:19-33 (the message bible)
- don’t murmur, keep silent
- pray & wait on the Lord – Hebrews 6:12 you will inherit the promise
- see Jesus as your hope & high priest – Hebrews 6:9-20 (Phillips)
3 John 1:2
- what is your soul?
- it is your mind, your will and your emotions
- what is a prosperous mind?
- Isaiah 26:3 “you will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.”
- a stayed mind is a perfect peace mind because it rests is knowing, the lord is on your side, his love is unconditional, he hears and answers your prayers always!
- what problems arise when we see things through our own vision?
- our own vision is loaded with mindsets and traditions that filter everything we see
- we can’t see the big picture
- we can’t see a clear plan for our life, confusion sets in
- we can’t see what is causing our situation
- our own vision will make us lose hope in life
- discouragement, despair and depression will set in and they will have their way with you.
- we will hit the wall of limitations and that will produce frustration, anger and all negative emotions
- negative emotions will produce toxic stuff in us.
- if you believe what your vision is telling you then you may have one foot in the grave.
- in our own vision we will use our own ability
- our own ability is limited and when we make mistakes we think someone has to pay. so the first thing we do we begin judging ourselves, then others and usually the one we love the most. this is why over 50% of marriages end up in divorce.
- you are a faith being – when you begin to execute judgment your faith will work against whoever is in its way and it will produce what you believe
- no God? no help? no how?
- when you let the wall of limitations in your life and life starts to beat you on the head, you will start looking for a God of love. the one you heard about somewhere. then when nothing happens you will be the one saying:
- God is punishing me…
- God is not real…
- i hate religion…
- you won’t know what is causing your problems, you won’t know who is causing your problems and you won’t know how to fix them.
- how to have a victory’s vision
- check your sight
- power comes from the unseen world – 2 Corinthians 4: 18
- where is your vision’s power coming from? you, the lord or demonic?
- write down the promises that you need
- Habakkuk 2:2
- persevere (to persist steadily in an action or belief, usually over a long period and especially despite problems or difficulties)
- it’s a hard thing to consistently look through faith’s sight, never the less, if you see through victory’s vision, at the promise received you will have it. – 2 Kings 2:9-10
- what you look at can be your lord and can control you.
- Matthew 6:21-22
- be transformed by renewing your mind. – Romans 12:1-2
